EARLY TRANSISTOR HISTORY AT MOTOROLA

An Interview with Ralph Greenburg

 Historic Semiconductor Devices and Applications

Shown above is the cover of the Motorola Power Transistor Handbook, first published in 1960.  As discussed in the Oral History, Ralph was the editor of this highly successful publication.  He also provided editorial assistance to other Motorola Semiconductor publications, including The Zener Diode Handbook and the Switching Transistor handbook. Publications of this type were developed by competing semiconductor companies of the time, including GE and RCA, and were used to promote the devices made by each company.  These books typically included device specifications and applications.   Shown at left, for example, is a section of a Motorola sales brochure from the mid 1960s, and the Power Transistor Handbook is prominently noted.
